Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disowned a social media post linking him to the Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Ishaku Abbo, describing the purported endorsement as fake.
Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the minister had not endorsed Abbo and had no relationship with the LP or any of its candidates in Adamawa State.
The disputed post had presented Wike as backing Abbo’s candidacy, attributing to the minister a call on Adamawa residents to make informed choices at the polls and an expression of confidence in the senator’s capacity to lead the state.
But the FCT minister distanced himself from the purported statement, insisting that the endorsement circulating online did not reflect his position.
He urged Adamawa residents to disregard the report, stressing that he would personally announce his preferred candidate if and when he chose to declare support for anyone.
