The people of Pai, in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, now have cause to celebrate as the administration has approved the appointment of a traditional ruler for the chiefdom.
FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, on Friday announced the appointment of 3rd Class Chief, Abubakar Sani Pai, as the Sarkin Pai.
A statement by the Special Assistant, Media, to the Minister, Austine Elemue, disclosed that the appointment was contained in a letter dated August 30, 2022.
The minister enjoined the traditional ruler to display a high sense of responsibility, maturity and commitment.
The appointment letter as quoted in the statement reads, “I write to convey with pleasure, the approval of your appointment as a Third-Class Chief of Pai, known with the title, Sarkin Pai.
“The appointment is premised on an appreciation of the principles of Pai Chiefdom based on historical tradition, resolution of the Pai kingmakers, and the exercise of power conferred on the Honourable Minister of Federal Capital Territory, by Section 1 of the Chiefs (Appointment and Disposition Federal Capital Territory) Act N0.8 of 1997.
“In view of the above, you are please invited to note that this exalted traditional office demands a high sense of responsibility, maturity and commitment, which you must exercise always.”
The Mandate Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Ibrahim Dantsoho, while congratulating the newly appointed traditional ruler, also commended the kingmakers for the peaceful process throughout the selection of the Chief of Pai.
