Troops neutralise five terrorists, rescue abducted civilians in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised five terrorists and rescued three abducted civilians during a coordinated military operation in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of January 4, 2026, took place along a known terrorist crossing point on the Sojiri axis, where troops, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged terrorist elements.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the terrorists were neutralised without any casualty to own troops, while three civilians abducted by the insurgents were successfully rescued.

The statement said items recovered during the operation included AK-47 rifles and other sundry materials.

It noted that the success of the operation highlights the sustained commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to aggressive offensive actions against terrorist elements, while prioritising the protection of civilians and strengthening collaboration with local security stakeholders.

“Troops’ morale remains high, and security forces continue to dominate the operational environment across the Theatre despite the evolving security dynamics,” the statement said.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East region.
