Tinubu appoints GTBank co-founder Adeola to lead petroleum reform task force

President Bola Tinubu has appointed the co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, Fola Adeola, to chair a Presidential Petroleum Reform and Value Optimisation Task Force aimed at strengthening reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the presidency, the task force will serve as a high-level technical team responsible for coordinating and advancing key reforms designed to improve efficiency, attract investment and enhance value in the petroleum industry.

Onanuga said the committee would work on strategies to unlock capital, increase transparency and boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global energy market.

He noted that the task force would also design practical reform initiatives and ensure alignment with the Federal Government’s broader economic transformation agenda.

Members of the task force include Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Osagie Okunbor, Abubakar Suleiman, Adaeze Aguele, Farouk Gumel, Phillipa Osakwe-Okoye and Seyi Bella.

Mofoluwasho Fadayomi will serve as the secretary of the committee.

The presidency said the task force would report directly to the President and provide regular updates on progress made in implementing recommended reforms.

Adeola, a chartered accountant and entrepreneur, co-founded Guaranty Trust Bank in 1990 and served as the bank’s pioneer Managing Director before venturing into other areas of business and public service.
