The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has expelled its controversial former Vice Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, who plunged the party into judicial crisis.
Also expelled a long with Gombe were 10 other members for acts deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution and core values, following resolutions adopted at its National Convention held in Abuja.
ADC, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the decision was reached after delegates unanimously adopted a disciplinary motion targeting members found to have breached the party’s internal rules and ethical framework.
The convention, held on April 14, 2026, at the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki, Abuja, ratified the expulsions under the leadership of the party’s National Chairman, David Mark.
Those affected include: Hon. Leke Abejide, Nafiu Bala Gombe, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, Don Norman Obinna, Kennedy Odion, Clement Ehigiator, Stella Chukwuma, Patrick Ambut, Johny Tovie Derek, Duke Dick, and Elias Adikwu.
According to the party, the expulsion takes immediate effect, stripping the individuals of their membership status and freeing them to pursue political engagements elsewhere.
“The affected individuals have ceased to be members of the party with immediate effect and are now at liberty to explore other political platforms,” the statement read, adding that any political party willing to receive them is free to do so.
While reaffirming its stance, the ADC stressed that the action underscores its commitment to discipline, internal democracy, and adherence to the rule of law, noting that it would continue to enforce accountability as it positions itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
