A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress and Secretary of the Persons with Disabilities Subcommittee of the party’s National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Aare Hon. Tolu Bankole, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for measures aimed at improving accessibility for persons with disabilities during the August 15 governorship poll.
In a statement issued on Monday, Bankole said the commission’s provision of assistive devices and priority voting arrangements would promote inclusive participation in the election.
According to him, INEC’s plans, which include Braille ballot guides for visually impaired voters, magnifying glasses for voters with albinism and low vision, EC40H poster manifests for hearing-impaired voters, and priority queues for persons with disabilities, pregnant women, nursing mothers and the elderly, demonstrate the commission’s commitment to inclusive elections.
He urged eligible persons with disabilities to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and turn out to vote on election day, noting that their participation would strengthen inclusive governance.
Bankole also called on APC members and supporters to rally behind the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji Bola, expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the election.
