Uzodimma tasks APC campaign council on Osun poll, says focus is victory

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress National Campaign Council for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Hope Uzodimma, has charged members of the council to focus exclusively on delivering victory for the party, declaring that every campaign activity must be directed towards winning the poll.

Uzodimma gave the charge on Monday during the first strategic meeting of the APC National Campaign Council in Abuja, where members of the council and its various subcommittees gathered to fine-tune campaign plans ahead of the governorship election.

Addressing the meeting, the Imo State Governor said the gathering was convened to mobilise members for service rather than ceremony, stressing that the council’s responsibility was to coordinate activities that would enhance the party’s chances at the election.

“Our plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking. It is not for any jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service,” he said.

He directed all subcommittee chairmen to meet immediately and submit their resolutions and proposals to the National Secretary of the campaign council, noting that the recommendations would guide the Central Working Committee in supporting their assignments.

Uzodimma said every subcommittee must concentrate on initiatives capable of strengthening the party’s campaign, adding that other issues could be addressed after the election.

“We have only one mission, to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” he said.

The APC campaign council chairman also said the finance subcommittee had been mandated to receive voluntary contributions from party members and supporters willing to support the campaign.

He added that there was no need for members to introduce themselves, explaining that the composition of the campaign council had already been published by the party.

  1. The APC had constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council and several subcommittees to coordinate campaigns for its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election.
