Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reinstated the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo, and the Acting Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Mr Michael Ango, weeks after both officials were suspended from office.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The Minister, who warned that acts of indiscipline will not be tolerated among officials of the FCTA, directed that Dr Danlami Hayyo and Michael Ango, both resume duty immediately.
The statement reads “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reinstated the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo and Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, FCT-IRS, Mr. Michael Ango.”
Recall that the minister had on November 25, 2025, suspended Dr Hayyo after the Education Secretariat was linked to an unauthorised circular instructing public schools in the FCT to close for the year due to heightened security concerns.
The Administration however disowned the notice at the time, describing it as false and insisting no school-closure directive had been approved.
Later on December 5, 2025, the Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS, Mr Michael Ango, was suspended from office through an official statement that gave no reasons for the decision. The directive had ordered the most senior officer of the Service to take charge pending further instructions.
Wednesday’s directive returns both officials to their positions with immediate effect, though the statement did not provide further details on the reinstatement.
