As Nigeria struggles to re-stabilize its economy as part of its post COVID-19 recovery process, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Helpline Foundation for the Needy has examined the potential Capacity Development in the aftermath of the pandemic.
President of the Abuja based foundation, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, at a symposium on how to tackle issues confronting the Nigerian system, say the post COVID-19 recovery era requires a lot of human development for the country to tackle the changing realities.
She explained that the 2021 Maiden Edition of the symposium powered by Helpline Foundation for the Needy, centred its panel discussion on the topic “Capacity Development: Basic Tool for Economic Recovery in Nigeria’s Post COVID-19 Era.”
According to her, “We know how frequently the ‘National Cake’ feature in our national discourse. We coined the phrase National Cake, from confectioners to reduce our national wealth to its practical purposes.
“Most people who have either written or formulated policies for Nigeria have placed emphasis on distribution or what we refer to as “the sharing of the national cake,” with less emphasis on how the cake is baked.
“Over the past 60 years, the dwindling nature of Nigeria’s economic growth is a mystery given the abundant resources human and natural, in Nigeria.”
She further disclosed that the programme will provide the opportunity for the unveiling of some major books authored by Enejoh James, a youth with innovations and ideas that can influence generations of youths for self-reliance and moral values.
She enjoined Nigerians to join in the conversation in order to discuss issues bordering around sustainable economic development in Nigeria.
The 2021 Maiden Edition of the symposium powered by Helpline Foundation for the Needy has the theme: “Human Capital Development: Prerequisite for National Development in Nigeria’s Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery.”
