Women journalists in the FCT have shown their support for the reelection of Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche for a second term in office as Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FCT Council.
To demonstrate their support, the women professionals under the auspices of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, FCT Chapter, last week purchased the reelection form on behalf of Ogbeche to consolidate on his achievements in the last three years.
Presenting the form at a brief but colourful ceremony at the council secretariat at Utako, President of the NAWOJ, Ladi Bala, said the women journalists decided to purchase the form for him in appreciation of the remarkable achievements recorded by Ogbeche- led Fresh Start Team.
She called on practicing journalists in Abuja to re-elect Ogbeche for his leadership role in properly positioning the union among professional groups in the territory.
Responding, Comrade Ogbeche, who is also the Editor of The Abuja Inquirer Newspaper, thanked NAWOJ for the good gesture and pledged to do more for the welfare of Journalists in Abuja.
Among those who graced the occasion were former Presidents of NAWOJ, Evelyn Onyilo and Asabe Nahaya, both of whom commended Ogbeche’s sterling achievements and plegded support for his re-election.
Other members of the Fresh Start Team who also picked their forms for reelection included Patrick Osadebamwhen, (Vice Chairman), Ochiaka Ugwu (Secretary), among others.
Approximately 80 members of the NUJ were present at the historic event.
