A 42-year old native doctor, Terhemen Iorbee, from Mbakuha Council ward of Ushongo Local Government, Benue State, has committed suicide.
Our correspondent gathered that the native doctor, a father of four, hung himself in the early hours of Saturday, March 5, 2022.
According to his father, Iorbee Ndyar, and his eldest son, Fater Terhemen, the deceased was brought home around 10pm on Friday by his colleague, one Orduen Kerchen, from Tarkar LGA where he was for several weeks attending to his patients.
They told journalists that the late Iorbee was not sick but according to his friend, had been hallucinating in his last days in Mbakor, a situation which compelled him to bring him back home.
They stated that when he was brought home by his friend, they led him into his room to sleep by daybreak, he was missing and was later found to have committed suicide by hanging himself.
“We found him dead in the early hours of today, Saturday, with his body suspended by a rope tied round his neck from a tree branch”.
According to them, the deceased was married to three wives but has not been living with any of them.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident but said investigations were ongoing.
