Police arrest 5 for kidnap of 1, murder of 2

At least, five kidnappers said to be responsible for the June 12 abduction of one person and the murder of two other victims, at the Gwagwa area of Abuja Municipal Area Council, have been arrested by the police.

Operatives from the Utako Division of the FCT Police Command were said to have trailed and arrested the notorious kidnappers at Gwagwa and Dei-Dei, respectively.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Wednesday, disclosed that the suspects, 20 years old Umar Abdullahi, a.k.a. Auta, 29 years old Likita Abubakar, 24 years old Salisu Sani, Sabiu Mohammed, and 24 years old Aliyu Suleiman, are also responsible for several kidnappings and other heinous acts in the territory.

According to her the suspects, “were arrested in connection with the kidnapping incident in Gwagwa on June 12, 2024, where a victim was kidnapped, the sum of twelve (12) million naira was collected as ransom from the victim’s family, and two others were killed. They are also responsible for several kidnappings and other heinous acts in the Capital Territory.

“Four AK-47 rifles, a Dane gun, two magazines, and eight unexpended live ammunition were recovered from the suspects, as they have all confessed to the crime.

“While Investigation is still ongoing, the commissioner of police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, reaffirms the command’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the security and safety of residents.
