Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on Christian residents of Abuja to embrace peace, unity and good neighbourliness as they celebrate Christmas.
In his 2025 Christmas message to FCT residents, the minister described the festive season as “a season of joy, giving, sharing, and good neighbourliness,” urging Christians to use the occasion for sober reflection and to share goodwill with fellow residents.
The message personally signed by the minister himself enjoin our Christian residents to use the occasion of Christmas to, “reflect and to rededicate themselves to the virtues of love, unity and peace which are the recurrent themes of the message of Jesus Christ,”
The minister also used the opportunity to stress the importance of praying for leaders and the nation, stating, “The occasion offers us a unique opportunity to pray for our leaders, and indeed, our country Nigeria, that we may enjoy peace and progress in the coming years.”
He expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation with the FCTA throughout the year, noting that 2025 witnessed “monumental developments” across the Territory, including the renovation of schools, equipping of hospitals, construction of roads and bridges, and strengthened security.
Wike also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, partners, stakeholders, and the Management and Staff of the FCT Administration for contributing to the progress recorded over the year.
While reassuring residents of government’s commitment in the coming year Wike assured that, “The FCT Administration will continue to remain steadfast in its task of providing infrastructure and services that will have the greatest positive impacts on the lives of residents in the FCT.”
The minister urged residents to be security-conscious during the festive period, advising them to report any suspicious activities to security agencies. He assured that arrangements have been made to ensure that FCT residents commemorate Christmas in a “safe, secure and joyful atmosphere.”
