Bauchi APC crisis deepens as Yuguda accuses minister of $150,000 bribe

A fresh crisis has hit the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress following allegations by a former governor, Isa Yuguda, against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.

The dispute became public on Wednesday after a petition was reportedly submitted against Yuguda at the party’s national secretariat, a move his supporters described as politically driven.

In a statement issued by his media office, Yuguda alleged that the minister was involved in actions aimed at weakening the party’s structure in the state.

He claimed that a sum of $150,000 was used to influence members of a delegation sent from the national secretariat, with the intention of altering the outcome of a recent party congress.

The former governor warned that such developments could threaten unity within the party in Bauchi, stressing the need to protect internal democracy.

He also faulted the alleged involvement of a serving minister in state-level party disputes, noting that national duties should take priority.

Yuguda’s camp further expressed disappointment over the situation, recalling their past political relationship and accusing the minister of turning against a former ally.

Despite the tension, the former governor said he would not be drawn into prolonged conflict, adding that his focus remains on strengthening the party and supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He noted that, as North-East Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, his priority is to mobilise support for the government rather than engage in internal wrangling.
