The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has fixed sixty million naira as the total cost of its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also announced the adoption of the open secret ballot system for its primary elections, saying the move is aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and internal democracy.
NDC National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja while unveiling the timetable for the party’s primary elections.
According to the schedule, the sale of forms will begin from May 13 to May 18, while completed forms are expected to be submitted on or before May 25.
The presidential primary election is scheduled to hold on May 29 in Abuja.
Under the approved fee structure, aspirants for state Houses of Assembly will pay two point five million naira, House of Representatives aspirants six million naira, Senate aspirants eight million naira, while governorship hopefuls are expected to pay thirty million naira.
For the presidential ticket, aspirants will pay twenty million naira for the expression of interest form and forty million naira for the nomination form.
The party says female aspirants and persons living with disabilities will enjoy discounts on nomination fees across all categories.
Female aspirants are expected to pay fifty per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities will pay twenty-five per cent.
The NDC says the measures are part of efforts to promote inclusiveness and credible leadership selection ahead of the 2027 elections.
