Easter: Wike pushes for unity across FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on residents to use the Easter season to rebuild harmony and strengthen the values of love and service with their neighbours.

In his Easter message to Christians and all FCT residents, Wike described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a profound symbol of “new beginnings and renewed hope” for the nation. He said the season offers a moment for reflection on the teachings of Christ and a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.

A press statement issued by the Deputy Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, Rabi Umar, said the minister encouraged residents to extend kindness and compassion to one another during the celebrations, praying that the joy of Easter would fill homes across Abuja.

According to him, “This Easter season offers us an opportunity to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and for new beginnings and renewed hope. I urge FCT residents, especially the Christian faithful, to use the occasion of the Easter celebrations to rededicate themselves to the virtues of love and service to our fatherland”.

The Minister encouraged residents to extend kindness and compassion to one another throughout the festive period. He prayed that the joy of Easter would fill homes across the territory.

“As we celebrate, let’s remember the values of love, compassion, and kindness that Easter represents. May we continue to work together towards building a community that reflects these values, where everyone can live in peace and prosperity”, he said.

Wike also assured residents that the FCT Administration has rolled out comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful celebration. He said the safety of residents remains a top priority.

“I want to assure you that the FCT Administration is committed to ensuring your safety and security. Adequate measures are in place to guarantee a peaceful and enjoyable Easter celebration, so you can focus on what matters most, family, friends, and faith”.

He further acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s support for the ongoing transformation of the capital city, describing the infrastructure rollout as a direct outcome of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I want to also use this opportunity to express my appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda has driven significant development in the FCT. His commitment to the progress of the FCT is evident in the numerous infrastructure projects transforming our territory, and I am proud to be part of this journey towards a more prosperous and harmonious FCT”.
