The National Examinations Council, NECO, has accredited additional schools in Equatorial Guinea to administer the Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, and the Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.
NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, stressing the council’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.
The newly accredited schools, located in Bata, the largest city in Equatorial Guinea, join the existing institutions already authorized to conduct NECO examinations.
According to Sani, a NECO accreditation team recently visited these schools to evaluate their preparedness for the SSCE and BECE.
“The team conducted a thorough inspection of key facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, sports facilities, and continuous assessment, CA, records.
“They also assessed the adequacy of teaching staff and the security measures in place to ensure a conducive examination environment.
“Following a comprehensive evaluation, the schools were granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status,” the statement read.
NECO highlighted that the accreditation of additional foreign schools reflects its dedication to delivering quality education and assessments beyond Nigeria’s borders.
With its growing international presence, the council aims to establish itself as a leading examination body in Africa, providing opportunities for Nigerian students and other foreign nationals to benefit from its expertise.
Currently, NECO examinations are administered in several countries, including Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Equatorial Guinea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
